As a wedding planner, I feel like a broken record saying this, but your wedding day should reflect you as a couple! To do that, you need to incorporate elements that showcase your unique personalities & your unique love story! Before we can really dive in, we have to first discuss what a wedding design is? It is more than just your color scheme or your wedding flowers, although those are important elements! It is the ATMOSPHERE of the whole event! How do you want to feel on your wedding day & how do you want your guests to experience it? Your design is crucial if you want a special experience for all who attend! Overall, your guests are there for you & your spouse, so it should heavily reflect you two as a couple. When I think back on all of the weddings that I have planned, one couple that truly incorporated their personalities & interests comes to mind- Sara & Jo Cano’s wedding at The Farmhouse in Montgomery, Texas!

Sara & Jo met in college while attending Texas A&M University (WHOOP)! They met through their church’s small group & instantly connected over their shared faith in Jesus. Their relationship with Christ is a huge part of who they are as individuals & as a couple, so it is no surprise that it was also a huge element of their wedding day. It truly was a day that glorified God through so many details. One of my favorite things that they did was start their ceremony with a worship song. They had some friends come up to sing & play the cajon drum to lead their family & guests in worship. It was beautiful seeing guests from many different areas of this couple's life come together with one purpose- to praise God. Later in the ceremony, they also had their parents come up and pray over them to bless the start of their marriage, while they also took communion. It was just an overall peaceful day, & I know that was because of God’s presence.

Also at the ceremony, were the cutest personalized newspaper programs! The programs included pictures of the couple, fun facts about how they met & their personalities, their bridal party names, and fun word searches & games for the guests to fill out throughout the evening. I usually see a lot of programs get thrown away, so this is such a cool way to make it a fun experience for guests to enjoy while they wait for the ceremony to start! It also makes for the cutest keepsake to remember the details from your big day.

Another personal element that Sara & Jo tied into their wedding day was their love for thrifting! If you know me, you know this truly won me over. I love thrifting & antiquing too, so this was one of my favorite elements of the whole day & one of the prettiest place setting designs I have ever seen! While they do love thrifting, they actually rented their table top items from Grands Rentals. They selected mismatched china, where each plate had a different floral design on it. They were all so pretty! It was hard to pick a favorite. They also had mismatched green glassware which brought in that vintage feel too. To tie it all together they had wicker charger/placemats & gold flatware!

Another way that their love for thrifting was reflected in their wedding day, was their guest favors! Sara & Jo purposefully thrifted enough coffee & tea mugs to give to each of their guests as a special take home gift. They also made a sign to go on the favor table to ask their guests to pray over their marriage each time they use the mug from their wedding! What a thoughtful idea, and another way to tie in their faith! This element also ties into another personal detail about the couple- their love for coffee!

Sara & Jo used Eva Street Bar’s coffee trailer to provide a yummy caffeinated treat for their guests to enjoy during cocktail hour! It couldn’t have been more perfect on this 20 degree wedding day…. YEP! It was freezing, and we were all sipping on a nice hot latte to keep warm!

Lastly, the couple’s personality really shined through their colors & their flowers! Individually, they are both so kind, gentle, & bubbly! Their beautiful color palette of pinks, oranges, greens, & dusty blue really warmed up the venue space & brought in feelings of joy & elegance. Everyone present could feel the peace, love, & joy that radiated through Sara & Jo!
